American singer songwriter Lana Del Rey has revealed that she’s struggling to put together a second album.
The 27-year-old topped charts with her full studio debut ‘Born to Die’ last year, taking the music world by storm and picking up legions of fans across the globe. She has, however, set a remarkably high standard for its follow-up, and it seems she’s having trouble living up to it.
Speaking to Nylon Magazine, Lana Del Rey revealed:
"When people ask me about it, I just have to be honest--I really don't know [...] I don't want to say, 'Yeah, definitely - the next one's better than this one,' because I don't really hear a next one. My muse is very fickle. She only comes to me sometimes, which is annoying.”
Del Rey explained that since she hit the big time, she’s finding it harder to find inspiration to write:
“It's harder to be an observer when people are watching you. You have to go further inside because the outside world becomes a harder place to draw from.”
Although the star is having difficulties, she has at least got some work done, and revealed that she ‘loves’ everything that she has done so far - describing it as ‘a little more stripped down but still cinematic and dark’. Are you looking forward to the record? Leave us a comment in the box below!
