Details Of Two New U2 Tracks Emerge

Wednesday, 30 October 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Details of two new U2 tracks have emerged, with one of them having been previewed last week.

The band have put together a song, Ordinary Love, for the upcoming Nelson Mandela biopic Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, which sees Idris Elba taking on the lead role and hits cinema screens on November 29.

Record Store Day’s third annual Black Friday falls on the same day and U2 will release Ordinary Love, and its b-side, Breath, as a limited edition 10” vinyl.

The band are currently working on a new full-length, the follow-up to 'No Line On The Horizon'.

Quotes from bass player Adam Clayton state that the band are hoping to complete the LP by the end of November, so it’s unlikely it’ll be out before 2014.

“I think it’s a bit of a return to U2 of old, but with the maturity, if you like, of the U2 of the last 10 years. It’s a combination of those two things and it’s a really interesting hybrid. We’re in the studio. We’re trying to get these 12 songs absolutely right and get them finished by the end of November, and then we can kind of enjoy Christmas.”

You’ll have to wait a little longer to hear the tracks, but for now, check out the artwork on the above right and our coverage of the preview they revealed last week here!
