Stephen Malkmus And The Jicks Confirm New Album

Tuesday, 12 November 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks have announced plans to release a new album, ‘Wig Out At Jagbags’.

The former Pavement frontman and his indie-rock outfit last released ‘Mirror Traffic’ in 2011, and will return on January 6 here in the UK and January 7 in the rest of the world.

‘Wig Out At Jagbags’ has been inspired by Malkmus’ recent spell living in Berlin - as well as a load of other stuff. He told Matador Records:

“'Wig Out At Jagbags' is inspired by Cologne, Germany, Mark Von Schlegell, Rosemarie Trockel, Von Spar and Jan Lankisch, Can and Gas; Stephen-Malkmus-imagined Weezer/Chili Peppers, Sic Alps, UVA in the late 80′s, NYRB, Aroma Charlottenburg, inactivity, jamming, indie guys trying to sound Memphis, Flipper, Pete Townshend, Pavement, The Joggers, the NBA and home life in the 2010s...”
