The Virgins are set to call it quits. The New Yorkers' frontman, Donald Cumming, told Rolling Stone that it was time for them to step away from the band.
The Virgins released their second full-length, 'Strike Gently', earlier this year, having broken through with their single Rich Girls back in 2008.
Cumming will now start work on a solo record. He told the magazine:
"I was a young guy and wanted to be in a band and it was great, but I don't feel that way anymore. I'm an adult now and I think there's something really unsettling about a grown man walking around pretending to be a teenager. I was really proud of the last record and it's a great feeling to end the band in a place where I'm really happy. I don't know what the next thing would be except to try something I have never done before."
The band's European tour - which was set to feature nine UK dates in February 2014 - has been cancelled, with Rolling Stone confirming that fans will receive refunds.
