Monty Python To Play An Extra Five Dates At The O2 London

Thursday, 28 November 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

A further five London O2 Arena dates have been announced for the ever-expanding run of Monty Python stage shows. The new shows are confirmed for July 15, 16, 18, 19 and 20, bringing the total number of shows at the iconic venue up to 10.

Tickets for the original London show went on sale earlier this week after John Cleese, Eric Idle, Michael Palin and Terry Jones announced that they were to reunite for a one-off stage show next summer. Tickets for the initial show sold out in just two minutes on Monday and with four new shows being added to deal with demand, all of which sold out within a quarter of an hour, the Pythons had shifted over 100,000 tickets in under 15 minutes.

Speaking about the new shows, John Cleese said:

"The response to our planned reunion has been very, very silly. But we're all touched that so many fans still want to see such old people perform. So we're delighted to be adding more dates to the run at the O2."

These new shows will be the first time the Python collective have performed together in decades.
