Lost Johnny Cash Record Set For Release In 2014

Tuesday, 10 December 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

'Out Among The Stars', a lost collection of music by country legend Johnny Cash, is set to see a release in March 2014.

The Associated Press reports that Cash put the record together with producer Billy Sherrill in the early ‘80s while signed to Columbia Records and retained the tapes after parting ways with the company.

Set for a release on March 25, John Carter Cash is excited for it to hit shelves:

“We were so excited when we discovered this. We were like, my goodness this is a beautiful record that nobody has ever heard. Johnny Cash is in the very prime of his voice for his lifetime. He's pitch perfect. It's seldom where there's more than one vocal take. They're a live take and they're perfect.”

Cash died in 2003, aged 71, having delivered a remarkable series of records on Rick Rubin's American label late in his career.
