Monday, 19 May 2014 Written by Huw Baines

Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy is planning to release a solo record in the near future.

Pitchfork reported the news on May 18, along with the announcement of a string of solo shows in the US, although further details on the album are yet to be confirmed. Wilco released 'The Whole Love' back in 2011.

For his latest tour, which will feature new material and a stop at the Newport Folk Festival, Tweedy will be backed by his son, Spencer, on drums, Jim Elkington on guitar, bassist Darin Gray and Liam Cunningham on keys.
