Manchester's Phones 4U Arena Not Affected By Sponsor's Slide Into Administration

Monday, 15 September 2014 Written by Huw Baines

It has been confirmed that Manchester’s Phones 4U Arena will not be affected after the venue’s title sponsors went into administration.

The decision has resulted in the closure of 550 stores and almost 5,600 jobs being threatened, but the arena has announced that its scheduled events will be staged as planned. In a statement, a venue spokesperson said:

“We would like to reassure concertgoers that the future of the mobile phone retailer Phones 4u will have no impact on forthcoming shows. The arena will continue to be managed and operated by SMG Europe, as it has very succesfully [sic] for the last 20 years. Our name will remain Phones 4u Arena for the forseeable future.”

Kylie, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga, Paolo Nutini, Linkin Park, the Who and Kasabian will all appear at the venue before the end of the year. For a full list of shows, head here.
