Charlotte Carpenter Shares New Song Lately

Thursday, 24 November 2016 Written by Laura Johnson

Charlotte Carpenter has shared a new song, Lately.

The track is the b-side to her new single, Fire, which is set to arrive on December 2 via Let It Go Records and follow up her 'How Are We Ever To Know' EP, which was released this summer.

The Northampton singer-songwriter had the below to say about the new song:

“Lately is a lullaby, of some kind, to a lover. This is a strange one for me, because I’ve never written a love song in a positive light and I can’t describe this any other way than being a love song. I wrote this on my acoustic guitar; something I hadn’t played in a really long time, and I reconnected with it in some way. I knew this was something I wanted to keep simple, so a live recording felt like the most honest way to record this song. I like the way it sounds stark, because for the first time ever, love feels simple.”

Carpenter is coming to the end of her UK tour, with stops left in Cardiff and Leicester. She will also support the Greasy Slicks at the Victoria in Birmingham on December 7 and Birthdays in London the following day.

Please note her show at Bristol's Start The Bus, which was scheduled for November 30, has been cancelled.

Charlotte Carpenter Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows

Thu November 24 2016 - CARDIFF Moon Club
Fri December 02 2016 - LEICESTER Cookie
