The bass guitarist and vocalist, who played with King Crimson during the ‘60s, including on their iconic debut, ‘In the Court of the Crimson King’, and later with the prog-rock supergroup Emerson, Lake and Palmer, had been living with cancer for some time.
His death was confirmed with a short message from ELP manager Stewart Young. “Yesterday, December 7th, I lost my best friend to a long and stubborn battle with cancer,” he said. “Greg Lake will stay in my heart forever, as he has always been. His family would be grateful for privacy during this time of their grief.”
Music bows its head to acknowledge the passing of a great musician and singer, Greg Lake.
