Anathema will return with 'The Optimist' on June 9 through Kscope.
The British proggers, led by brothers Daniel and Vincent Cavanagh, began recording the album at the end of last year in Donegal and Glasgow with producer Tony Doogan. Talking about Doogan’s influence on the process, Vincent said:
"He suggested that we record as a live band, which we hadn’t done for years. Having played a few tunes on the last tour, we were ready for that. Tony wanted to capture that energy you can only get with everyone facing each other… it makes a big difference. He was a superb guy to work with and I learned a lot making this record."

The band will follow the release with sets at various European festivals including Download in the UK on June 11. They also have European and South American dates confirmed through the summer, plus two shows in Ireland in September. Further dates are expected to be announced soon.
