Toothless Shares Acoustic Performance Of Palm's Backside Featuring Marika Hackman

Wednesday, 19 July 2017 Written by Laura Johnson

Toothless, aka Ed Nash, has shared an acoustic performance of Palm’s Backside.

The track, which features Marika Hackman, is lifted from the Bombay Bicycle Club bassist's debut solo LP, 'The Pace of Passing', which he released in January and followed up with the 'Palm's' EP in June.

Speaking about the song, Nash said:

"Palm’s Backside was my take on a breakup song but with a twist. Normally breakup songs are about being hard done by and wanting to get back with your ex or about how you didn’t need them in the first place. Palm’s is about realising that your old partner is better off without you and trying to move on as a result. The song is a back and fourth between a guy and a girl looking back at their relationship. Marika Hackman was my first choice to sing the female parts as I have always loved her music and thought her voice was the perfect counterpoint to mine. Filming this session was the first time I had seen Marika since recording the song and filming the original video for it. She turned up on the day and learnt all the guitar parts in 5 mins!"

Toothless will appear at Secret Garden Party this weekend and Reading and Leeds next month. He will also support Hippo Campus on their UK and European tour in October.
