Skott Unveils New EP 'Stay Off My Mind'

Friday, 12 January 2018 Written by Helen Payne

Skott has released a new EP, 'Stay Off My Mind'.

It's the first new material we've heard from the Swedish alt-pop artist since September single Remain, and arrives ahead of her stint supporting  on her spring UK tour.

Speaking about the EP's title track and its breakbeat sample, which was originally used in Peter, Bjorn and John’s Young Folks, she said:

“I've been working a bit with Bjorn from Peter Bjorn & John, and we meant to replace the sample, but it just worked so perfectly so its ended up in the song. The producers and I couldn't decide on a bpm for the song – when the verse felt fast, the chorus felt slow, and vice versa, so the song actually switches tempo four times.

Ultimately it’s a song about missing someone so much that you're almost living more in the past than in the present. It's bittersweet because we can have such fond memories, but life goes on and sometimes having flashbacks can keep you from moving on.”
