Bonnie Raitt Pulls Out Of First Leg Of James Taylor Tour On Medical Grounds

Tuesday, 01 May 2018 Written by Huw Baines

Bonnie Raitt has pulled out of the first leg of her summer tour with James Taylor on medical grounds.

The singer-songwriter will undergo surgery, missing dates scheduled between May 8 in Jacksonville and June 6 in Seattle. Raitt is expected to make a full recovery and will rejoin the tour on June 22 in St. Paul.

“I’m deeply sorry to have to disappoint my fans, James and colleagues with these cancellations,” she said in a statement. “I was so looking forward to our tour, but I’m very grateful that the doctors feel this can be taken care of with surgery. I’m feeling strong and am in great hands with my wonderful team. I fully expect to return for the second leg of the US tour in June followed by our European tour in July.

“Thank you all for your concern and understanding that the best gift you could give me is respecting my wish for privacy and giving me space to heal. Can’t wait to see you all back on the road again soon!”

Taylor will cover for Raitt’s temporary sidelining by playing two sets with an intermission, while Sheryl Crow will join the bill for shows in Phoenix, on May 29, and at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on May 31 and June 1.
