Death Cab For Cutie Share Lyric Video For Gold Rush

Thursday, 28 June 2018 Written by Laura Johnson

Death Cab For Cutie have shared a lyric video for Gold Rush inspired by Bob Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues.

It is the first single to be shared from their new LP, 'Thank You For Today', which is due to arrive on August 17 and follow up 'Kintsugi'. Discussing it, Ben Gibbard said:

“I’ve had this realization only recently that so many of my memories are tied to my geography. And when that geography changes, it’s as if you’re not only coming to terms with the passage of time, but it’s as if you’re losing those people and that time in your life all over again. Cities are in constant flux, and I’m not claiming victimhood in this, but the speed at which Seattle is changing, and people of color and creative communities are being pushed out, is alarming.”

Check out the video, which stars Gibbard and was shot by the band's bassist, Nick Harmer, below. Another clip for the track was shared when the new album was announced earlier this month. Head here to watch it.

The band will support the record with tours across North America, Europe, the UK and Ireland. Check below for dates.

Alter Bridge - Walk The Sky (Album Review)
Fri 25 Oct 2019
Hammered out in what may or may not come to be known as a wham-bam, thank you ma’am style of recording, Alter Bridge’s sixth album was crafted in a whirlwind five week period that had led to some of its greatest strengths and the odd nagging concern. Deliberately their most out-and-out batch of inspiring anthems, ‘Walk The Sky’ largely typifies why they’re still the reigning kings of emotionally intense, ferociously well executed arena rock.
