Madball Return For Winter UK Headline Tour Plus Napalm Death Support Show

Wednesday, 01 August 2018 Written by Jon Stickler

New York's hardest will head back to the UK and Ireland this winter.

Hardcore legends Madball have lined up 10 dates starting towards the end of November in support of their ninth studio album, 'For The Cause', which landed via Nuclear Blast Records back in June. The run also includes a show supporting grindcore behemoths Napalm Death at their homecoming show at the Mill in Birmingham on December 1.

The follow up to 2014's 'Hardcore Lives' was co-produced by Rancid's Tim Armstrong, who also features on one song on the album, The Fog, while rapper Ice-T contributes to the record's title track. On-off Madball guitarist Matt Henderson participated in the album's recording process, but isn't touring with the band.

td#right {display:none !important;} Illustration: Samuel Davies There’s this great indie-rock song going around called Hope You Like Getting Old. It’s by the Seattle band Subways on the Sun and its video is full of stuff that used to clutter my shelves when I was a kid - a VHS copy of The Empire Strikes Back, an Optimus Prime figure, a lava lamp like the one my girlfriend got me for my 17th birthday. Watching it is to submit to that addictive, rose-tinted sadness that’s so hot right now. It’s Proust with power chords.

After all, why should we be impressed by the execution of dog-eared blueprints?
Deaf Havana - Rituals (Album Review)
Mon 20 Aug 2018
The intro to Deaf Havana’s ‘Rituals’ is a short ambient piece called Wake but, in truth, they might well have kicked things off with John Williams’ ominous theme music from the film Jaws. Having turned their back on everything that made them one of Britain’s finest young bands, the five piece have totally and utterly jumped the shark here.
