Sam Fender Announces Spring Tour And Re-Releases Play God Single

Monday, 14 January 2019 Written by Jon Stickler

Sam Fender has announced a spring headline tour.

The Brits Critics Choice Award winner has lined up stops in Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, Exeter, Bristol and London, where he'll tackle the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on May 6. He also plays Neighbourhood Weekender in the same month, which is headlined by Richard Ashcroft and George Ezra. Tickets for the tour go on general sale at 9am on January 18.

Fender has also re-released Play God after the track was initially put out as the indie singer-songwriter's debut single in 2017. The track sees him exploring an alternate dystopian reality.

"I wrote it a couple of years ago where there were a lot of big changes happening in both the UK and the States, I had just entered my twenties, I was anxious about the future of the world and its leaders, and it didn’t help that I’d just read George Orwell’s 1984 at the time. As you can imagine, I was pretty paranoid!"
