Riot Grrrl Pioneers Bikini Kill To Reunite For Spring US Shows

Riot grrrl pioneers Bikini Kill will reunite for three shows this spring.
Vocalist Kathleen Hanna, drummer Tobi Vail and bassist Kathi Wilcox, will be joined by guitarist Erica Dawn Lyle at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on April 25, Brooklyn Steel on May 31 and New York's Terminal 5 on June 1. Tickets go on sale on January 18 at 9am PT/12pm ET (NYC) and 10amPT/1pm ET (LA).
The band - Hanna, Vail, Wilcox and then gutiarist Billy Karren- formed in 1990 and split in 1997, following the release of their 1996 LP 'Reject All American'. They are viewed as the instigators of the riot grrrl movement and have continued to inspire artists through numerous other projects, including the Julie Ruin and Le Tigre.
After the split they put out 'The Singles' collection in 1998, but their most recent release was the reissue of 'Revolution Girl Style Now' in 2015. It remastered the original cassette-only demo and featured three previously unreleased tracks: Ocean Song, Playground and Just Once.
The announcement of the reunion, sans Karren, has been met with positive responses from fans and the music community, with the likes of Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon, Beth Ditto, Brody Dalle of the Distillers, Patty Schemel of Hole, Cat Power, Maggie Rogers, and At The Drive In's Cedric Bixler-Zavala all posting excitedly about the dates.
