Weyes Blood Confirms Spring Release For New Album 'Titanic Rising', Plots Accompanying Tour Dates

Tuesday, 12 February 2019 Written by Jon Stickler

Weyes Blood will return with her fourth LP and accompanying tour dates this spring.

Weyes Blood (pronounced wizebluhd) is the project of Santa Monica singer-songwriter Natalie Merling, who will release 'Titanic Rising' on April 5 via Sub Pop Records, marking her first release on the label.

Led by first single Everyday, as well as the previously shared Andromeda, the follow up to 2016's 'Front Row Seat to Earth' was written and recorded during the first half of 2018 and is described by Merling as, "the Kinks meet WWII or Bob Seger meets Enya."

Head below to view the album's cover art, which was shot in a bedroom submerged fully underwater, as well as the tracklist and Merling's self-directed video for the new song.

To celebrate the album's release, Weyes Blood will embark on the True Love is Making a Comeback Tour commencing on April 22 in Brighton, with additional stops confirmed in Bristol, Manchester and London. Following the UK run, she'll head to mainland Europe and North America. Tickets go on sale at 10am on February 15, priced £11.00/£14.00 plus fees.

Weyes Blood’s ‘Titanic Rising’ is an exceptionally modern, prescient singer-songwriter record that also couldn’t do a better job of channelling mid-’70s California if it tried. Landing somewhere between Karen Carpenter sitting in with Randy Newman and a polemical statement on present day alienation, Natalie Mering has crafted something quite special here.

Every festival season brings with it the same hopes and fears. Most of them are toilet-related, naturally, but the optimists among us are always chasing that era-defining high. A great set in perfect surroundings with the correct lubricants (or none at all) can be transcendental, fuelling years of pub reminiscing and I-was-there-whens.
