5 Seconds of Summer have released a new single.
Old Me is the latest track from ‘Calm’, the Australian pop-rock band’s fourth album, and follows on from previous cuts No Shame, Easier and Teeth. It takes a different spin on their usual sound, opting for a trap-inspired, electronic beat and some falsetto vocals to outline vocalist Luke Hemming’s reflection on growing up and forgiveness. He said:
“Old Me carries a youthful spirit and follows the narrative of a young person's life growing up, for better or for worse. Every decision we made, whether right or wrong, has led us to the men we are proud to be today. We were thrown into the public eye at a young age and gratefully had each other at a confusing time. Sometimes it’s important we look back in order to appreciate the journey we’ve been on together.”
‘Calm’ is due for release on March 27 via Polydor. 5 Seconds of Summer will support the LP with the No Shame Tour, which will visit the UK and Europe in May and June, then travel across North America during August and September. All tickets are on sale now.
