David Lee Roth has released a new song, Pointing At The Moon.
The soulful, country-leaning ballad sees the former Van Halen frontman heading in a calmer direction, with the track unfurling around gently strummed acoustic guitar and piano.
It marks the first new music from Roth since he put out five mostly unplugged tunes—Giddy Up, Somewhere Over The Rainbow Bar And Grill, Lo-Rez Sunset, Alligator Pants and Manda Bala—alongside an online graphic novel named The Roth Project in November 2020.
The songs were recorded roughly a decade ago, with the help of John 5 on guitar and bass, Gregg Bissonette on drums, Brett Tuggle on keyboards, and percussionist Luis Conte. Roth hasn't revealed any additional information about when, or with whom, Pointing At The Moon was recorded, but it offers the same feel as the previous cuts.
