Boat opens his new album, '-' (pronounced Subtract), which is due out on May 5. It follows lead single Eyes Closed that arrived in March.
Sheeran said: “Boat is the first song I wrote and finished for Subtract, it’s where it all began, and a good way to kick off the album.”
As was the case for the whole record, the English singer-songwriter co-wrote Boat with Aaron Dessner of The National. The largely acoustic, sombre song arrives with a video directed by Mia Barnes. Watch below.
Sheeran will take his + – = ÷ x Tour (pronounced Mathematics Tour) across North America throughout the summer. Just before the trek kicks off on May 6 in Arlington, Texas, he'll release his new documentary, Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All, which will be available on Disney+ from May 3.
