Rife with huge, distortion-heavy riffs and ascending melodic synths, it's the second taster of the British prog-metal giants' new album, 'War Of Being', which is slated to arrive on September 15 via Kscope.
It comes with a video set in "The Strangeland", a fictional landscape from the concept record's narrative. Bassist Amos Williams said:
"The Grey explores the story and character within The Strangeland of the same name — a character who has suppressed their own voice to the point that they have blended into the shadows, their story lost amongst the white noise of the world. Through the song, we experience their journey as they wrestle with their frustration and sorrow at how they have ended up this way.
"It's a powerful, energetic piece that pushes each member of TesseracT to a next level of musicianship and expression. And continues to shine a light upon the diversity that can be expected from 'War Of Being'."
It arrives hot on the heels of the launch of an immersive War Of Being video game, which gives players the opportunity to explore the world of the album. Download here to play, and check out footage from the game in the video below.
In July, the group shared the LP's 11-minute title track and its equally epic accompanying video. They'll support the project with a previously scheduled world tour, comprising North American dates later this year, followed by a UK and European leg early in 2024, and Australian and New Zealand concerts in May.
