English Teacher Confirmed As Artist Ambassador For Independent Venue Week 2024

English Teacher have been announced as Artist Ambassador for Independent Venue Week 2024.
The rising Leeds band will follow in the footsteps of artists such as Wet Leg, Beabadoobee and Wolf Alice in leading the line-up for the week-long series of events celebrating independent venues and the people that run them.
The annual event will take place between January 29 and February 4, with 205 venues so far confirmed to come together with artists, promoters, agents, record labels and media to host special events highlighting the grassroots music scene.
Recently signed to Island Records, English Teacher will play a special gig at Hull's Polar Bear Music Club on February 1 as part of a short run of shows, with tickets on sale today via the Independent Venue Week website.
Other artist confirmed to perform at live events throughout the UK include Steve Mason, Hinds, Peaness, The Zutons, CVC, Skinny Living and TVAM, with many more names to be announced. A full list of IVW24 venues can be found here. Founder of Independent Venue Week, Sybil Bell said:

They also have a strong affinity with IVW having played numerous shows over the years, including a brilliant gig for BBC Music Introducing in West Yorkshire earlier this year at the Trades Club in Hebden Bridge - a true “I was there” moment for me. We are really honoured to have their continued support, and I can’t wait to see them perform again at The Polar Bear in Hull."
Lily Fontaine from English Teacher added: "We’re delighted to be the Ambassadors for next year’s Independent Venue Week. Over the years that we’ve developed as a band, we’ve always tried to be vocal about our relationship with the local venues, organisations and scenes that have supported us in our careers and practice, and that continues next year with our tour of some of the most vital grassroots music halls in the country."
Additionally, a new series called IVW24 Beers with Beavertown will launch at 11 small venues around the UK on November 28, welcoming local music acts to discuss ideas for IVW24. Venues include Voodoo Daddy's in Norwich, divehu5 in Humberside, The Social in London, Duffy's in Leicester, Bobiks in Newcastle, The Parish in Wrexham; Wales, Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh; Scotland, Folklore Rooms in Brighton, The Brook in Southampton, Dareshack in Bristol and Northern Guitars in Leeds.
English Teacher, meanwhile, released their debut EP, 'Polyawkward', in 2022. More recently, they made their national television debut on Later with… Jools Holland and dropped the single Nearly Daffodils.
Having supported acts such as Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Paolo Nutini and Yard Act, in addition to slots at Glastonbury, SXSW and Reading and Leeds, the four-piece will play their first show in Los Angeles on Wednesday (November 22). They'll also perform at the End Of The Road Christmas Party at The Lexington in London on December 12.
Following their dates early next year, they'll take over London's Electric Brixton on May 29. Tickets are on sale now.
