Joy Crookes Teases 'Juniper' With New Single Somebody To You

Joy Crookes has shared a new single, Somebody To You.
Built on gently looping guitar with backing vocals from Sam Fender, the stripped back, soul‑infused ballad serves as the latest preview of her sophomore album, 'Juniper', due out on September 19. Crookes said:
"Somebody to You is a song that I wrote when questioning the reliance I had on someone I’m very close with and their reliance on me – and whether that needed to change in order for me to understand myself better."
Commenting on collaborating with Fender, who she met at the Mercury Prize awards ceremony back in 2022, she added:
"Sam and I met at the Mercury’s. We drank with Guy Garvey and ended up at Little Simz’s afters (I know, so many name drops) and became mates.
"A year later, he was down in London and I collected him from King’s Cross in my Suzuki and we bolted down Euston Road bitching about music and the state of the world to end up at Studio 13. He blasted some BVs out and played me his new record before it came out. I wouldn't properly understand “shy bairns get nowt” if it wasn’t for Sam. My fav geordie mate."
Alongside the release, the London singer-songwriter has announced a series of in-store shows in September to celebrate the album, before her previously scheduled UK and European tour in the winter. Tickets for those dates are on sale now.
