The first acts have been announced for a new music festival in Milton Keynes.
The inaugural 50,000-capacity, era-spanning Electric Paradise will take place on August 8 at the National Bowl, showcasing a cross-generational line-up featuring disco, funk, soul and house music across multiple stages.
The Main Stage bill is led by Grace Jones, Candi Staton, UB40, Kool and The Gang, and Sister Sledge featuring Kathy Sledge, while The Big Love Stage will host Cameo, Earth, Wind & Fire (by Al McKay), Shalamar, Jocelyn Brown and Heather Small, among others.
House and disco music take pride of place on The Glitterbox Stage, with sets from Armand Van Helden, Dimitri from Paris, Roger Sanchez, Fat Tony, house vocalists Barbara Tucker and Julie McKnight, Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy, Ella Knight and more, while The Fool's Paradise Stage features classic house sounds from Mark Knight, Todd Terry, Dave Lee (JN) and Michael Gray, alongside soul sets from Norman Jay and Fleetmac Wood.
Rounding out the bill, The Clockwork Orange Stage will spotlight classic dance with performances from Graeme Park, Danny Rampling, Alison Limerick, Baby D, K-Klass featuring Bobbi, Livin' Joy featuring Luzuahnn, Rozalla, and Andy Manston and Danny Clockwork. Promoters JBM Music said:
"This event is about celebrating timeless music that brings people together - disco, funk, soul and house have shaped generations of culture and continue to unite audiences on dancefloors around the world. From day one, our vision has been to create a world-class experience that honours the legacy of these sounds while delivering the energy, production and atmosphere of a major modern festival. Launching the first edition is just the beginning, and we’re committed to growing this into a landmark annual event."
