The Strokes have announced their seventh studio album, and first in six years.
The follow-up to 2020's 'The New Abnormal' is titled 'Reality Awaits' and is expected to arrive this summer. That's all the information available for now, with the Grammy-winning New York band revealing the news with a retro-style teaser video on social media.
Last week, the band shared a sign-up link for marketing texts, and now 100 fans who gave their mailing address have reportedly recievied cassettes with a new song called Going Shopping, though there's no confirmation on whether it will appear on the album.
The Strokes have several US festival appearances lined up throughout the spring and summer, including Coachella in California this weekend and next, Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tennessee in June, Outside Lands in San Francisco and Just Like Heaven in Pasadena in August, and Shaky Knees in Atlanta and Sea.Hear.Now in Asbury Park in September.
In 2024, The Strokes' frontman Julian Casablancas' band The Voidz released the album 'Like All Before You'. Last summer, they put out the four-song EP 'Męğż Øf Råm', which was recorded in the same East Village basement in New York where The Strokes' debut album 'Is This It' took shape.
