Kim Petras has shared another track from her upcoming third album.
Pairing clubby production with heavily auto-tuned vocals, Need For Speed arrives with a video directed by Ashley Hood. In a statement, Petras described the track as being about the "constant push for more hits and more success, which ultimately erases your personality until your only personality trait is being so busy and fast that you basically don’t have a life."
She continued, explaining that she wanted the song to "describe this feeling of being in a machine, but wanting to break out of it and feeling like you’ve become this monster version of yourself that isn’t able to let anyone in because there is nothing there except the need for going further and faster."
Released via the Grammy-winning German pop singer's independent label BunHead Records, the track marks the latest preview of 'Detour', a release date for which is still to be confirmed, though it's said to be imminent.
Earlier this year, the singer hit out at Republic Records in a series of posts on social media, publicly requesting that the label drop her so she could continue as an independent artist.
Previously, Petras was sharing a new song per week independently via SoundCloud and YouTube for a four-track EP titled 'Pretour'. Most recently, she released Get Some with Cortisa Star, following earlier tracks Polo, Freak It, and I Like Ur Look.
