Levellers Announce Huge Summer Hometown Show At Brighton's Hove Park

Levellers have announced a major hometown outdoor exclusive show for the summer.
The Brighton folk-rock stalwarts will headline Hove Park on September 5 with a performance celeabrating 35 years of their 1991 second album, 'Levelling The Land'. The band's frontman and songwriter Mark Chadwick said:
"It’s going to be great to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Levelling The Land in Brighton. It’s a Brighton album, 90% of it was written in Brighton, a lot of the songs are about Brighton and its environs, so we are just made up to be playing in our home town, it’s been good to us, it’s a unique town, so it’s really important to us. Hove Par has an original standing stone in it – The Goldstone - which is good for us because we are hippies!"
Special guests for the show will be announced in due course. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on May 8, with an optional charity donation to Sussex Homeless available at the point of purchase, a chartiy close to the band.
"We’ve been working with Sussex Homeless for 5 years," the group explained. "It’s front line work, what they do is hardcore and we are really happy to support that. We’ve all been homeless back in the day, and we just used to squat, but you can’t do that anymore, that’s criminal now, so it’s an issue close to our hearts. Jim who runs it is all over it, we know the money is being used at the pointy end and we are very happy to be part of it."
Prior to the new show, Levellers will headline Wychwood Festival in Cheltenham and their own Beautiful Days festival in Devon in August. They also have shows lined up in Sheffield on May 30 and Norwich on June 4.
In the autumn, they'll take 'Levelling The Land' on the road for a UK and European tour, performing select tracks from the record alongside fan favourites spanning their career, joined by The Meffs and Ned's Atomic Dustbin on select dates. Tickets are on sale now.
Levellers released their most recent studio album of original material, 'Peace', in 2020. Last year, they put out a live album and concert film titled 'Collective/Live', recorded in 2023 at London's Hackney Empire, and remixed and remastered 30th anniversary editions of their 1995 LP 'Zeitgeist'.
