Masego has returned with a new single called Breathe.
The vulnerable, introspective track marks the beginning of a new era for the Grammy-nominated Jamaican-American artist, producer and multi-instrumentalist, and reflects on life's ups and downs through his most honest songwriting so far. He said:
"Breathe is an actual real-life story about me trying to process a death in a family, but then having to go into a meeting, and then a studio session, and then travel, and then some other industry shit.
"It made me want more consideration for the fact that the artist's job is not unionized, we don't have health care, and it's just like, ‘Hey, go do a bunch of whatever and we'll make some money off it.’ I'm able to be less cynical about it because I'm a big anime fan, and there are principles in anime like, if you want to get stronger, it comes with a cost."
Earlier this month, Masego announced his Fix Your Face Tour, spanning North America, Europe and the UK, with the latter leg featuring shows at Bristol Beacon, the O2 Apollo in Manchester and The O2 arena in London on October 13, 15 and 18 respectively.
The new shows will feature music from his forthcoming project, 'Fix Your Face', as well as previous releases, with his latest album being a 2023 self-titled LP. Tickets for all dates are on sale now.
