Queens Of The Stone Age have released their first single in three years, Easy Street.
Opening with soft acoustic guitar and echoing handclaps, the mellow track blends the American band's hazy, psych-rock sound with subtle country influences while Josh Homme duets with country singer Nikki Lane, whose 2022 album 'Denim & Diamonds' was produced by the frontman. Homme explained:
"It’s kind of a funny song. It’s like hitting your funny bone, where it’s funny because it hurts and it hurts because it’s funny. You’re serious, but it’s funny. We made it the way you’d make a demo. No click track, mistakes left in. It speeds up, it slows down, the claps aren’t great, but they’re not bad, and a bad clap adds this human thing you can’t fake.
“It’s not just about silliness. It’s about understanding the imperfection of your life. The song, like your life, is in the mistakes. Its imperfections are unbeatable.”
The song is the band's first new music since the release of their latest album, 2023's 'In Times New Roman...', though it was first premiered live last year during their Catacombs Tour, supporting their 2025 'Alive In The Catacombs' concert film and EP. Head below to view the video, directed by The Armed’s Tony Wolski and Christopher Gruse, which shows Homme being chased down "Easy Street" by a cowboy, a Juggalo and a Santa Claus, among others.
Queens Of The Stone Age are currently touring Europe and the UK with Acid Bath supporting System Of A Down, and play the second of two shows at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tonight (July 15).
Next month, they'll head back to North America to support Foo Fighters on the Take Cover Tour before playing newly announced dates in Japan, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand with Primus and Tropical Fuck Storm before the end of the year. Tickets for their dates Down Under go on general sale at 11am local time on July 20, while tickets for the shows in Asia go on sale at 10am local time on August 1.
In related news, Homme recently contributed additional vocals to Mastodon's new single Snakes For Dinner, the first preview of the Atlanta Grammy-winners' ninth studio album, 'Marrow Deep', due out next month. He also appears on Shania Twain's latest single, Faded Blue Jeans, from the country superstar's new album, 'Little Miss Twain', due out next Friday (July 24).
