The Smiths' Mike Joyce & Producer Stephen Street Plot 'The Queen Is Dead' In Conversation UK Events

The Smiths' drummer Mike Joyce and acclaimed producer Stephen Street have announced UK events billed as In Conversation: The Queen Is Dead at 40.

Joyce and Street will discuss The Smiths' seminal album 'The Queen Is Dead' at Stockton's Arc Theatre, Manchester's New Century Hall, Frome's Cheese and Grain, Kidderminster Town Hall, Leicester's Y Theatre, Liverpool's Tung Auditorium, Sheffield's Foundry, Edinburgh's Queen's Hall and London's Kings Place between October 1 and December 5. The dates will feature a special guest host that is yet to be announced.

Celebrating the record's 40th anniversary, each evening will feature stories from the studio, memories and behind-the-scenes insights into the making of band's 1986 masterpiece, as well as track-by-track discussions, audience Q&As, archive footage, signings and memorabilia. Tickets are on sale now.

In related news, former Smiths frontman Morrissey is set to perform US dates over the coming months, including sets at CBGB Festival in New York and Darker Waves Festival in Huntington Beach, followed by UK and European arena shows this winter. The singer is touring in support his first body of work in six years, 'Make-Up Is A Lie', released via Warner Music Group's Sire Records in March.
