Clutch Unveil First New Single In Four Years The Drifter Returns

Clutch have returned with a new single, their first in four years.

The Drifter Returns serves up punchy, riff-heavy rock from the opening, combining gritty guitar riffs and a tight, driving groove with frontman Neal Fallon's distinctive gruff vocals.

The Maryland rockers have spent the past couple of years touring on and off and playing the previously unreleased song. They've also busy working on their 14th studio album, the follow-up to 2022's 'Sunrise On Slaughter Beach' and 2023's "the complete edition", for some time now, though nothing official has been announced as yet.

Since their last album, Clutch have released the PA Tapes series, featuring four live recordings from US performances, alongside a remastered edition of their 2003 rarities and b-sides compilation, 'Slow Hole To China', and a 2025 remaster of 2004's 'Blast Tyrant' and 'Blast Tyrant Basket of Eggs', featuring bonus demos and outtakes.

Fallon also appears on the final track, The Three Fates, on Mastodon's new album, 'Marrow Deep', released last week. He previously collaborated with the Atlanta metallers on Blood And Thunder from their 2004 LP 'Leviathan'.
