American rocker Lenny Kravitz has been chosen to star in a biopic of the life and death and legendary guitarist Jimi Hendix, who died in 1970 following a drugs overdose, aged just 24.

lenny-kravitzThe grandson of a pure Cherokee Indian, Hendrix was once quoted as saying:
"People still mourn when people die. That's self-sympathy. The person who has died ain't crying.

"When I die I want people to play my music, go wild and freak out an' do anything they want to do."

Elle Von Lear, a lifelong friend of  Jimi, has acquired the exclusive rights to Hendrix's name, likeness and performances and the first thing she intends to do is a controversial biopic.

Von Lear revealed: "I know exactly what happened to Jimi Hendrix. I have the autopsy reports and I have unsealed all the court records regarding Jimi Hendrix's legacy. It took years due to all the US and UK litigation," she revealed.

"Our goal is to do a proper major feature film that finally tells the real shocking story.

"Now I can do what he intended for his legacy and I plan to start by making a The Doors-type film about Jimi's life. It will be heavily music-driven with all those great Hendrix original recordings."
