Lennon’s Son Defends Citroen Advert

Thursday, 04 March 2010 Written by Matt Hamm

John Lennon’s son Sean has spoken out in defence of his mother Yoko Ono’s decision to allow video footage of the Beatles legend in Citroen’s latest ad campaign for the DS3.

Sean Ono Lennon argued that it was purely to keep his dad “in the public consciousness” and not for financial gain. Sean responded to criticism on his Twitter page, saying “She did not do it for money. Has to do with hoping to keep dad in public consciousness. No new LPs, so TV ad is exposure to young”.

Quite how young he believes viewers of these ads selling an item that you cannot legally drive until at least sixteen are is puzzling. But he followed his first tweet with another outlining “Look, TV ad was not for money. It’s just hard to find new ways to keep dad in the new world. Not many things as effective as TV”.

While he has a point, it’s difficult not to believe Yoko isn’t currently sitting upon a gold and diamond encrusted throne, counting the money made from this advert in unmarked $100 dollar bills.

But we'll let you decide...watch the advert below:
