Ohio rockers The Black Keys are working on the release of their sixth studio album, entitled ‘Brothers’, on May 17th.
When it comes to the blues, The Black Keys have got it bad. Or should that be good? No, brilliant in fact. The duo have a sound which is unique. A stripped down, dirty, raw mixture of garage rock and delta groove. Whats even better is that The Black Keys are now preparing their new album, the follow up to ‘Attack And Release’, with a series of producers from across the USA.
Perhaps the most exciting news is that the blues rock duo have journeyed down to Muscle Shoals Sound. The legendary studios which were previously home to artists such as Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones and more. I bet those walls could tell some good stories.
The Black Keys drummer, Pat Carney, spoke out about the duo’s inspiration for their new material being drawn out by the ghosts of Muscle Shoals. “We like spooky sounds… like Alice Coltrane, where a dark groove is laid down. That’s the headspace we tried to get into for this record.”
The album will be a distinctive return from the band, Carney continued, “Dan and I grew up a lot as individuals and musicians prior to making this album. Our relationship was tested in many ways but at the end of the day, we’re brothers, and I think these songs reflect that.”
With Dan Auerbach and Pat Carney both recently going separate ways in solo projects, the duo have now decided to concentrate solely on The Black Keys.
