Bloc Party's Kele Okereke Announces Solo UK Tour & Tickets

Following the announcement of the solo album and the news of the first single release “Tenderoni”, Bloc Party singer turned solo star Kele Okereke has announced a full UK tour.

With Bloc Party touring extensively for the last five years, the band announced last year that they will be taking time-out to have a break from music. However since the call of a hiatus, certain members of the band cant seem to shake the habit of creating new music and gigging.

Working with side-project Pin Me Down, Bloc Party’s guitarist Russell Lissack recently dropped his debut album as well as touring with Northern Irish indie rockers Ash. Meanwhile, Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke has been focussed on his own new project, taking on a new dance direction.

With his first solo album “The Boxer” set for release this June, the singer has already made his first single, “Tendoroni”, available to hear online. It is scheduled to be officially released on 14th June.

“Kele” as he wants to be known, has now announced that he will hit the road for a full scale tour of the UK in July. Also set to perform on the John Peel stage at Glastonbury as well as two warm-up shows at venues in Sheffield and Brighton, Kele will kick off his UK tour on
1st July in Leeds.

Kele Okereke will play the following UK dates:

July 2010

1st The Cockpit, Leeds
2nd O2 Academy2, Oxford
3rd Southampton University, Southampton
5th Waterfront, Norwich
6th Village Underground, London
13th Ultra! Gatecrasher, Birmingham
14th O2 Academy2, Birmingham

Tickets are available from 9am on Friday 7th May.
