Multi-Instrumentalist Yann Tiersen Confirms Autumn UK Tour & Tickets

French multi-instrumentalist, performer and composer Yann Tiersen has announced a string of dates for an extensive UK tour kicking-off later this year in October.

You may be wondering who the hell Yann Tiersen is, like I was prior to writing this announcement, but chances are that you could well have heard his work already! Providing the music behind soundtracks for award-winning films such as ‘Goodbye Lenin’ and ‘Amelie’, Yann Tiersen is a massive star in his native France.

His live shows have been described as “electrifying” as he bounds from instrument to instrument putting together performances made up from violin, accordion, piano and more. Tiersen is often seen playing more than one instrument at a time too!

Usually accompanied by an orchestra, Tiersen has lately banished his regularly featured piano, violin and accordian from shows, focussing more on his electric guitar skills.

So far the 2009-2010 tours have seen Yann play out his Joy Division and Stooges influenced electric guitar, having rebelled against his classical training as a child.

Playing guitar in several local post-punk influenced bands during his later teenage years, Yann Tiersen now treads the boards of a much bigger stage with the announcement of a hefty UK tour.

Yann Tiersen will play the following UK dates:

October 2010

27th HMV Picture House, Edinburgh
28th The Cockpit, Leeds
29th Manchester Cathedral, Manchester
31st O2 Academy, Bristol

November 2010

1st Wedgewood Rooms, Portsmouth
2nd O2 Academy2, Oxford
3rd KOKO, London
5th Brighton Concorde 2, Brighton
7th Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
8th Northumbria University Sport Central, Newcastle
9th Glee Club, Birmingham
11th The Junction, Cambridge

Tickets are onsale from 9am on Friday 9th July, priced from £15.00
