Cymande are a funk group based in London.
Formed in 1971, its members derive from nations across the Caribbean, chanelled into their music through their fusion of funk, soul, reggae, rock, African music, calypso and jazz. They released four albums before splitting in 1974, however they eventually returned to the stage in 2012 after receiving a surge in popularity after their tracks had been sampled in modern music by artists such as The Fugees, De La Soul and Grandmaster Flash. Their fifth and most recent album, 'A Simple Act Of Faith', arrived in 2015. Cymande headline London's O2 Shepherds Bush Empire on April 20, 2024.
