Johnny Hates Jazz is a British new wave band, consisting of Clark Datchler (songwriter, vocalist, keyboards) and Mike Nocito (bassist, producer, engineer). They are best known for their international hit Shattered Dreams.
Formed in 1985, they released their debut single, Me And My Foolish Heart, in 1986, via RAK Records. They then performed at a showcase at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, and were subsequently signed to Virgin Records. Their single, Shattered Dreams, was released in 1987, and reached the Top 5 in the UK Singles Chart and reached #2 in the Billboard Hot 100, the following year. Their debut album, ‘Turn Back The Clock’, came out in 1988, and reached #1 in UK Albums Chart, before Datchler left the band. They released a second album, ‘Tall Stories’ in 1991, before disbanding in 1992. The band reformed in 2009, and released a third album, ‘Magnetized’, in 2013.
