Lauv, also known as the San Francisco born Ari Staprans Leff, is an American pop musician whose music features elements of RnB, indie-pop, and jazz guitars. Lauv is Latvian for 'lion', a nod to his mother's Hebrew heritage, as his first name Ari means 'lion' in Hebrew.
Throughout his early life, he played in multiple bands, studied jazz, and majored in Music Technology from New York University.
He is best known for the singles I Like Me Better, and The Other, which he co-wrote with Michael Matosic after a break-up in 2014. The song gained blog attention and went viral, peaking at number three on Hype Machine, and hitting the Global Top 100 on Spotify.
After graduating, he signed to Prescription Songs and released his debut EP, 'Lost in The Light', and since, has released the singles Breathe, I Like Me Better, and Easy Love. He also has writing credits for the likes of Charli XCX and Demi Lovato.
In 2017, he toured the Late Nights, Deep Talks tour in 8 cities across the US. In September, it was announced Lauv would be supporting Ed Sheeran on the Asia leg of his 'Divide' tour.
