Leeds United Football Club was founded in the autumn of 1919, following the demise of the old Leeds City Football Club.
After the disbanding of Leeds City FC by the Football League, Leeds United FC took over their Elland Road stadium, which has been the club's home since their formation. Leeds United FC play in all-white kits at home matches. They share rivalries with Manchester United and Chelsea, as well as with local teams such as Huddersfield Town, Bradford City, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday. Today, the club are known as simply "United" or "The Whites", after their present club colours. The club took its previous nickname of "The Peacocks" from a pub that once stood near Elland Road. Leeds United FC's major honours include three English league titles, one FA Cup, one League Cup, and two FA Charity/Community Shields.
