Founded in 1865, Nottingham Forest are one of the oldest football clubs in the world. They were founding members of the Football Alliance in 1889, and joined the Football League in 1892.

Nottingham Forest won the FA Cup in 1898 and 1959, with their most successful period coming under the management of Brian Clough between 1975 and 1993, during which time they won their only league title, two consecutive European Cups and four League Cups. They're the only former European champions not to be currently playing in their top-tier domestic league or division.

Since 1898, their home has been The City Ground on the banks of the River Trent. Also known as just Forest, or the Reds, the club's fiercest rivalry is with Derby County, with which it contests the East Midlands derby and competes for the Brian Clough Trophy.
