Opeth are a progressive death metal band from Stockholm, Sweden, consisting of singer, songwriter and guitarist, Mikael Åkerfeldt — the only original and consistent member, alongside Martín Méndez, Martin Axenrot, Fredrik Åkesson and Joakim Svalberg.
The band released their debut album, ‘Orchid’, in 1995, but it wasn’t until their eighth LP, 2005's ‘Ghost Reveries’, that they started to gain wider recognition, reaching #9 in the Swedish Album Chart. The band continued to gain success with their next three albums, including 2016's 'Sorceress', which reached #11 in the UK Albums Chart. Their latest LP is 2019's 'In Cauda Venenum'. Opeth have rescheduled their UK and European shows to November 2022. Prior to this, they will hit the road in the US in fall/winter 2021, for a co-headline tour with Mastodon.
