Professor Brian Cox is a physicist and broadcaster from Lancashire.
He currently serves as professor of particle physics in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Manchester, and works at the highly-publicised Large Hadron Collider, as well as presenting BBC Radio Show The Infinite Monkey Cage with stand-up comedian and writer Robin Ince. His science books Why Does E=mc²? and The Quantum Universe were a huge success, and academically he has been the author or co-author of over 950 scientific publications, including his own Doctorate Thesis, which was titled Double Diffraction Dissociation at Large Momentum Transfer. He is also the former keyboard player for the pop band D:Ream! Professor Brian Cox will take his new show, Emergence, on tour across the UK and Ireland in autumn 2026, following a string of Work In Progress dates between November 2025 and February 2026, and Preview shows in March. Thought provoking and very educational
Lancaster Grand Theatre on December 11 2025
I have seen Brian on TV shows and always look forward to watching anything he does especially regarding the cosmos. So when my daughter purchased two tickets to go and watch him live, I was made up.
The title of his talk was Resurgence, it covers the history of scientific discoveries. You cannot fault Brian's delivery as he manages to break down the complexity of physics so that lesser mortals like me can at least grasp and understand a little of a very complex topic. I found the part were he explained the make up of particles very interesting. I'm not going to go into much detail as I don't want to spoil it for anyone thinking of attending one of his talks. I would not hesitate to watch him again and enjoyed the evening.
