The promise: VIP Enclosure
Including: central stage position, seat provided, private bar with 2 complimentary drinks tokens, food box, Private Toilets (posh loos), Programme, flag, free carparking next to the VIP entrance. The reality: semi-organised chaos. No parking near VIP enclosure. VIP enclosure not clearly marked and only white plastic seats provided. Toilet was a chemical portable loo. Private bar not set up until approximately 30 minutes after entry and then was very confusing with no vouchers until a single person was tracked down for distribution. Likewise for flags and programs which could have been laid out on seats. No box meal but given a voucher to join the main queues for either a hotdog or a burger. No bins or recycling facilities in VIP area. Did I feel like a VIP? Definitely not! Music: Sound system was poor with feedback, resonance, pops and whistles during performance. The orchestra were ok but I've heard better at school events, with poor sound balance from singers drowning the orchestra. Samantha Oxborough was a star shining through the gloom. The dancing was a welcome distraction although the stage microphones picked up the landings from jumps which detracted from the obvious beauty of their performance in a very restricted stage space. Overall a very disappointing evening.
