Rick Astley is a pop singer-songwriter from Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside.

Starting his music career in 1985, he gained his first smash hit with Never Gonna Give You Up, which spent five weeks at the top of the British chart and became the year's highest-selling single, as well as a #1 hit in 25 countries.

He released his debut album, ‘Whenever You Need Somebody’, in 1987, which hit #1 on the UK Official Albums Chart. He released a further three albums before quitting the music industry in 1993.

He returned in 2001, recording several more LPs, but truly made a comeback in 2007, after Never Gonna Give You Up became the subject of an internet meme known as the Rickroll. It became such a phenomenon, that in 2008 he performed a live rickroll during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and YouTube pranked users on April Fool's Day by making every featured video a Rickroll!

His discography has now expanded to a total of nine full-length records, his most recent being 2023's 'Are We There Yet?'.
