In 2012, he resigned from the church to start a spiritual talk show, after his book, Love Wins. had caused controversy within the evangelical church due to its teachings that much of the Gospel is metaphorical, including the existence of Hell as a physical place. Now a bestselling author of 11 books including Drops Like Stars and Everything Is Spiritual, he also hosts The RobCast podcast and toured with Oprah, with a documentary about his life called The Heretic released in 2018.
