Strong Asian Mothers are a London based indie electro trio, who create a colourful blend of hip-hop, electronic music, and pop befitting their love of music and individual diverse backgrounds as artists. Formed in 2012 by childhood mates Kalim "Khushi" Patel and Amer Chadha-Patel, the duo soon incorporated Josh "Rogan-Josh" Stadlen on drums and began experimenting.
Strong Asian Mothers took inspiration from the eponymous matriarchs who raised them. Their mothers pushed race and gender boundaries in 1980s England by being part of a close-knit South Asian female collective of countercultural artists and thinkers, meeting at parties and holidays. The band then, represents each member's heritage while pushing creative and social boundaries as their mothers did. Strong Asian Mothers are well known for their emphatic and exciting live shows, making huge waves on London's music scene. By blending different elements of live performance with experimental electronics, this band bring an astounding show that bridges a gap between gigs and clubs. Their debut 'Lynx Africa EP' was released in May 2016, to critical acclaim and support from DJs Huw Stephens and Annie Mac, labelling the band as a 'New Name for 2016'. They followed this with their 2017 release 'The Animal EP', the single Don't Know Why, and their most recent single release, Hard To Find. The band have played a number of festivals including exhilarating and energetic performances at Glastonbury, Bestival, Latitude, Secret Garden Party, The Great Escape, Reading & Leeds as well as many others.
