It seems that the future of Pearl Jam is all a little clearer now, after their publicist revealed that last week’s hiatus announcement by Eddie Vedder was “lost in translation”.
About a week ago Stereoboard.com reported the shocking news that Pearl Jam were about to go on hiatus. Having revealed the news a few songs into the band’s set at the Optimus Alive festival in Portugal, frontman Eddie Vedder spoke in the crowd’s native tongue, thanking the crowd for coming to their “last show in a long time.”
With the announcement stunning fans at the festival as well as across the world, it wasn’t long until The Seattle Weekly newspaper was contacted by the band’s Public Relations Officer Nicole Vandenburg, explaining that Vedder’s announcement simply meant that their current live jaunt was coming to a close.
"He says that at the end of all tours, because the tour has ended. The remark may have gotten a little lost in translation."
Having recently performed a stunning show at London’s Hyde Park Hard Rock Calling festival as well as releasing their 2009 album ‘Backspacer’ to some warm reviews, the news of a Pearl Jam hiatus came as a shock to many fans. No need to worry any longer. Happy days!
